• HRH Princess Firyal serves on the International Rescue Committee's Board of Directors, who were featured in the May 23, 2011 Edition of Fortune 500 magazine and voted one of the seven most photogenic boards in the U.S. The article explains the fundamental function of the organization, describing its history as "Founded in 1933 with the encouragement of Albert Einstein, this agency responded to every major humanitarian emergency since World War II." The hard work and the outreach of the IRC earned its place among the most distinguished boards such as Berkshire Hathaway and Procter & Gamble.
• On June 10, 2009, H.R.H. Princess Firyal attended the IRC event "StudentRescue: NYC Students Rebuilding Liberia." The IRC sent a group of young people to live in the village of Karnplay, Liberia for ten days. The teens were so moved by the experience that they pledged to help the village by giving it the necessary amenities through a fundraiser in NYC which could provide the people of Karnplay with a better life and hope.

• On September 25, 2008, H.R.H. Princess Firyal participated in the United Nations Roundtable on education and health which was held at the UN Headquarters in New York on the occasion of the High Level Summit on the Millennium Development Goals. The Summit was convened by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and featured a keynote speech by Princess Firyal which highlighted the worldwide progress toward universal access to basic education, especially for girls.
• Mehriban Aliyeva hosts the UNESCO Regional Literacy Conference - HRH Princess Firyal and HE Mrs Vigdís Finnbogadóttir chair panels
  Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, hosted the fifth in the series of the UNESCO Regional Conferences in Support of Global Literacy from 14 to 16 May 2008 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
• On the occasion of the 7th Annual Meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan visits the Organization’s Headquarters
  On 3 April 2007, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, the Director-General of UNESCO, opened the 7th Annual Meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors at the Organization’s Headquarters. A unique highlight of this year’s meeting was the visit of Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan to UNESCO.

  Her Royal Highness Princess Firyal, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for the Education for All initiative, met with the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, on 1 March 2007 in New York, USA.
• Sixth Annual Meeting of UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassadors
  From 15 to 16 March 2006, UNESCO Headquarters in Paris was the venue for an impressive gathering of the Organization’s Goodwill Ambassadors. The 2006 Annual Meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors, convened by the Director-General, brought together a large number of these outstanding personalities, who come from the worlds of art, film, music, literature, charity and public affairs.
• Inauguration of the ‘Education for All’exhibition - HRH Princess Firyal donates US$ 100,000 to the Education for All initiative
  EFA-Exibition2_tn.jpgIn the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Talal Bin Mohammed of Jordan and Ms Margaret Spellings, US Secretary of Education, the Education for All exhibition at the 33rd session of the General Conference was opened by the Director-General of UNESCO on 5 October 2005. On this occasion, he also launched the Literacy Initiative for Empowerment (LIFE).
• H.R.H. Princess Firyal meets with the Assistant Director-General of the Education Sector
  Her Royal Highness Princess Firyal, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, met with Mr Peter Smith, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO’s Education Sector, for a work meeting on UNESCO’s Education For All initiative and Princess Firyal’s activities for this core programme of UNESCO. The meeting took place on 6 July 2005 at UNESCO Headquarters.
• H.R.H. Princess Firyal meets with UNESCO’s Education Sector
  During her visit to Paris, H.R.H. Princess Firyal met with high-ranking representatives of UNESCO’s Education Sector on 16 February 2005. This visit was conceived as a follow-up to the previous meeting between Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, UNESCO Director-General, and H.R.H. Princess Firyal on 14 September 2004, when she undertook the task to promote UNESCO’s Education for All Programme (EFA).
• H.R.H. Princess Firyal co-chairs UNA/USA gala dinner
  UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador H.R.H. Princess Firyal co-chaired the annual Global Leadership Award dinner, which was organized by the United Nations Association of the USA, presided by Ambassador William H. Luers, and the Business Council for the United Nations on 30 September 2004. More than 800 people attended the fundraising dinner at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Distinguished guests of the evening's ceremonies included UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, famous actor Michael Douglas, TV talk-show host Oprah Winfrey and David Rockefeller.

• Goodwill Ambassadors Serve as Patrons for the International Congress Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention
  H.R.H. Princess Firyal of Jordan, Ms Marianna Vardinoyannis and Wole Soyinka, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors, were nominated as Patrons for the World Heritage International Congress 2002: “Shared Legacy and Common Resposibility” marking the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the World Heritage Convention. The congress took place on 14 November 2002 at the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy.
